For the love of the game..

 In blog
Soccer is a widely loved sport. In developed continents like Europe, it has become a multi-billion dollar industry and has been termed The Beautiful Game. The love of soccer is still enjoyed at grassroots levels, where going back home covered in dust from playing soccer in the streets is quite an achievement for most children.
Soccer has become a favourite for most students and a part of their extra-curriculum activities. Mutake Primary School has been enjoying the game for many years in sun scotched grounds also used during athletics activities. Screams and cheers are heard from a crowd, sweating from the heat of the direct sun, feet scotched from the sun’s direct heat on the earth.
What is the beautiful game of soccer without its enthusiastic supporters?
Weary from the sun’s heat as deforestation had taken its toll, the beauty of the game had been lost. Several trees had been cut down to come up with a soccer pitch. Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe Trust, in a move to educate on the benefits of trees through afforestation made an initiative to plant fifty (50) trees around Mutake Primary School’s soccer field.
Each time Mutake Primary School enjoys the beautiful game of soccer, activism on issues to do with afforestation and preservation of forests will be remembered. As an organization, Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe Trust, are hopeful that by so doing communities will love their trees like they love the beautiful game.
Special thanks to the Headmaster Mrs. D Nyamuhwe and the Senior Teacher, Mr. Makunzva for opening their doors for us to preach the green gospel.
